Oh.. I didn't know about 3 and the fact tha one of the actresses died To be honest, I did quite like the third film although I didn't include it in the list as it wasn't as groundbreaking as 1 (which was original at the time) Does anyone know how the film was supposed to end had the actress been alive?

Far as I've been able to find out...
She died on Monday, Feb. 1, 1988 at 2:43 P.M. (Age 12) due to a genetic birth defect/disease called Intestinal Stenoisis.
As for the movie, I managed to find this info:
"Her last appearance as Carol Anne at age 12, and, sadly, her last major movie role; she died four months before the film was released. She gave her most in depth performance of Carol Anne in this film. After her death, MGM was unsure and nervous about marketing the film using Heather's image, so they cut facial views of her from the trailer and designed a theatrical poster with no tagline. Only the back of Carol Anne is seen in the poster, as she looks up at the tall highrise. In fact, the ending was reshot after she died so a body double was used. Look closely at the very last scene in the film and you will notice that her face is not shown"
So apparently it didn't really affect the plot or outcome of the movie, just some cosmetic changes and the like.
Sad in any case.

Thanx for the information Kitty.
It goes to show just how much momentum Urban Legend can gather and generate their own kind of truth.
I was at college at the time of the films release and I wrote for the college paper. In order to gather information for the piece I wrote to the research department of Look North. They had done a general interest piece on their TV show. Though now I suspect the information I recieved was `embelished` to make it seem a little more interesting by someone who either worked in the research department, or by the person who finally sent me the info!!
Oh well, so much for my journalistic instinct, I should have had Kitty writing for the paper!! LOL

i just don't seem to get scared by horror movies. don't get me wrong there r some very good horror films out there but i just find them so predictable and end up laughing all through them. although some good ones that i hav seen r
Sixth Sense ;D I did not predict the end to this and it really got u thinking and i love that film
Ring (the original) i rented this with some mates and it did actually scare me abit in parts. not large production value like the american remake but a good film none the less.
the shining. the bit at the end was good and tense but not really frightening.
i don't really see what people saw in Scream. i predicted every single murder and just found the whole film just hilarious.
the first 2 of the alien series were good but no. 3, what the hell did they do with that! it was just pure essence of S***!!
i can't think of any more at the moment but there r plenty of other good ones out there.

i don't really see what people saw in Scream. i predicted every single murder and just found the whole film just hilarious. quote] But that was also one of the points of Scream; it was intended to be a horror and failing that a point and laugh at the slasher genre at the same time (especially the ending) - I found in many ways it ot be a refreshing film

I have to admit I loved all of the scream movies. They were a real double-take on the slasher genre. Right down to the `Blonde Girl alone who goes out despite the fact she knows someone is out there` scene right at the beginning of the first movie. They pointed the fingure at the slasher genre without going into `I know What You Did Last Summer` spoof territory.
But my favourite horror slasher is Halloween 1 and 2. They were really good, perfect Halloween late night in a dark room viewing. But one of the things that helped make the movie was the music, that nerve shredding piano plucking was spot on in getting the pulse up!!
The same I think goes for the first Friday the 13th. The `Che-Che-Che Khaa-Khaa-Khaa` sound effect that came on just before Jason struck was brilliant, it really brought the suspense up for me!!
Incedently didn't the director James Cameron, of Halloween create the incedental piano plucking music? I'm sure I saw that in the credits, maybe one for Kitty to check up on!
I just love been scared...nothing quiet like it!!!

By the way, if you are interested in bad movies (and I mean, really bad movies, badly made not evil although sometimes bad movies can be both) I reccommend visitng the www.jabootu.com site. It has a particular good section of articles inlcuded Things I collectively hated in Jurassic Part 2/I know what you did last summer/ I still now what you did last summer. Hilarous as it points out the plot holes/stupid plot lines of those films - and has some good reviews of other bad films too
