You've got it in one there David!! The worst thing in some nightmares is that sometimes (and usually the people you trust and love the most) sit back and ignore you, even when the monster is about to have you in its grip!! The more you scream for help the broader they smile and sit back. This is reflected in the eyes of the mother, who is convinced the heroine Daughter just needs to be saved from HERSELF, and the Father who is ironically a cop and protector of people, insists that the killer is just a deranged mortal who can't get past the bedroom window. The frustration and fear that the girl experiences is the fear and frustration we have all felt in the grips of an icy nightmare!!

Gees.... I have to PICK? =/ But... there's like... too many lol I mean... I'd say Ghostbusters, cuz it's one of those old standby's I can watch over and over and over cuz it's so funny and stuff... But then there's stuff like Poltergeist... which personally I think fits in both categories. Then there's Ghost... mushy I know, but a damn good movie anyway. And of course Sixth Sense was good. OH... what was that one called... 13 Ghosts... that was kinda cool. Most would call it horror, but I was too busy trying to get good looks at all the ghosts and spooky-supernatural jargon and gadgets and stuff to ever even flinch lol To be quite honest... I can't think of a half decent "ghost" movie I don't like... There's tons of 'em, and they differ a lot.. ranging from light comedy to full blown terror to mushy to make you think movies.. but I love 'em all hehe. As for horror... Hmm... it takes a LOT to scare me... Being a little creeped out or spooked is about all most movies can hope for from me. Books are a bit of another story... But I did think of a few... and they fit in with the ghost thing too for the most part. House on Haunted Hill (Original, Vincent Price) The Shining (Steven King - Book was WAY better tho) Evil Dead Series - especially 2 (Tho I can't really call it horror, it's still hysterical and cool) Aliens Series - Especially 1 & 2. Dunno for sure if any of this stuff is "favorite" but it comes to mind and I love 'em... Problem is half the time if someone reminds me of another one, I'd go, "Oooh.. that one's good too!" lol -Kitty

Heh... Remember it?
Impossible to forget it. My daughter loves both that one as well as Near Dark (different vampire movie from about the same time period).
I always make her watch my old fav's a time or two. So far, she loves most of 'em and then makes ME watch 'em about once a week or more lol

Oh yeah!!! That's another one to add to my list too. The Lost Boys ad so much style....it was also one of the first movies to REALLY use a soundtrack, which I bought by the way!! This could go on forever couldn't it. As mentioned earlier, you think you have them all then someone mentions another and it starts all over again. ITS DAVIDS FAULT FOR STARTING THIS THREAD!!!! LOL

I agree.. its one of the reasons I think the first film is more than just a horror film in a way - its more like a horror/social commentary as the people in it seem real, even Freddy (who was a pure villan then, not the jokester he grew to be in number two onwards) As to blaming me in starting the thread, I was just seeing if I could skim people's dark subconcious

I never really liked the childs play movie.. or at least the first 1 or 2 when it was serious.. the whole voodoo concept was OK, but I never really saw Chuckie as too scary when I was younger Bride of Chuckie on the other hand was a different story - I thought the later films worked better as a dark comedy horror rather than a serious horror, which is wierd as the reverse is true for the Nightmare on Elm Street films (the more comedy based they got, the worse they got) Shows how a good character can make or break a film.
