Thanks a bunch to mattlov for his tips on how to fix the corrupted graphics on geforce 3 cards under windows xp/2000, although only the one step is actually needed.
install nvidia 44.03 drivers avaliabe from the nvidia site
This is a very recent driver (hasn't even been on PC gamer yet), so i didn't know it existed until mattlov pointed it out. After installing it, the game runs perfectly!
I think the game's really good, and the graphics (in their full un-corrupted flair) look amazing!
