They believe in what they do.. Misguided though it is.
It's no different than the radical end of the pro-life movement who go out and bomb abortion clinics or shoot doctors (killing people) because "We have to preserve life."
They believe in their actions.. they just don't have many functioning brain cells, and unfortunately, in order to see clearly the results of their actions, it requires more than they seem to have working at any given time.

If you believe that the only way you can make things right, or change things (whatever they may be), is to terrorise people (however you do it - be it a bully in the playground or someone crashing planes into buildings), then terrorism in many forms will occur.
Sad, but true. The only way to stop terrorism is to make everyone equal and happy. Sadly, most 'politicians' aren't interested in making this happen. And corporations almost certainly aren't.
Beyond all that, no-one has come up with a 'system' which would make everyone equal and happy, even if we were all pulling in the same direction.
