hat are EIDOS playing at!

Hi All

Well this is old news now, but just wanted to ask if anyone knows what the Hell EIDOS are messing about for with TR6.

Ive heard these rumours:
1) The PC version has been finished since Christmas but they wanted to wait for the PS2 version to be released together.
2)They couldnt release PS2 version because it wouldnt run in certain levels due to too high a detail and poor framerate.

It annoys me that they promise it and promise t again and again and just not release it. Why dont they just not say anything and ive an extra 6 month date, instead of giving us false dates that EIDOS know damn well they wont meet, Oh Its out in 2 weeks, No sorry, next month, No we mean 2 weeks then no one knows where its gone.

I know games are prone top slippage and late release dates but in an intervew on the PCZone website Smith still says the PC game still has bugs and he THINKS theyve got all the crash ones out... hmmm.

Does anyone get the impression EIDOS are taking the piss, a friend of mine who owns a game shop up in Newcastle here told me that a customer was visibly upset when he turned up for his TR6 and it wasnt released.

Mind you, EIDOS have lost 5% of shares due to TR6 not being released by the beginning of their financial year, which runs from July to July, but it'll sell by the skip load so they wont care.

Personnally Im a bit fed up with EIDOS, because TR6 isnt the only marketing game they've buggered up on.

Anyone got any thoughts on this

Personally, I'd rather wait an extra year for a game than get a release shoved out the door that barely works and is full of bugs.

They do that, then you gotta PRAY they're gonna even bother patching it, then spend time getting update after update, hope they do any good.. for multiplayer games you gotta worry about who has what version because patch X fixes your crahes but it CAUSES them for the next person down the line so they have to run a version back, etc...

No.. I understand frustration in waiting for a game you really want to play, but when it comes down to it, I can't quite share the level of agrivation that it takes to get pissed off at a game store when it's not there, or to start saying the game company sucks..

Let's face it.. if the company sucked, no one would care how late their games shipped because no one would be lining up and waiting for 'em

Interesting point Kitty, and I agree that I would rather wait another month or so for a game to be fixed than have it shoved out (Look at Black & White).

I do agree though that getting upset over a games non-release is not the stores fault, personnally Ide of phoned up first, but thats me.. Just seems EIDOS (not CORE who made it) who are publishing it are just messing about and just seem to be bothered about console owners these days, then they turn round and say it COULD still be bugged, that ticks me off.

From what Im aware Diablo 2 still has multiplayer and cheat problems, but its usually different PC configurations that cause alot of crashes, but what gets me is when you can run through a wall or you cant complete certain parts coz of tardy programming (B&W..).

I tend to stay clear of multiplayer sections of games for at least the first month, coz they never get it right.. But thats a different world altogether.. why should we pay £30 for a game, then fork out a further £7 a month just to play it.

Anyway, Ive had my rant at EIDOS, so ill leave it there.

As a TR(1-3) fan, I have to say I'm impressed anyone cares a jot about the next installment.

It was p*** poor by #3, and for such a good start to a 'brand' line, they managed the follow-ons extremely badly.

it's such a shame that some companies decide that they have made their money, and will now release rubbish to try and stabilise share prices or whatever.

Anyway, a little off the point, but in summation, yes I think Eidos are taking the p*** , but for differing reasons.

I think the new installment looks quite interesting, and wouldn't mind waiting for it. I'm not exactly a tomb raider fan, but it looks as though it could be more than just another knockoff from things like what you do counts at the end of the game, laura getting better at moves that she uses, etc.

Time will tell though. It could be complete rubbish.
