Hi all
Bit off an odd request for anyone who actually understands this technical stuff!
I decided to play the game again, for the first time in ages, and remembered that I had got it working before at a higher than normal resolution. I think I did that by modifying the SpDrv file but it was a long time ago on an old system.
Now, thinks I, I’ll just make those changes again and play the game....
Not so fast, says Windows 10, I’m going to bugger up the scaling and give you a little picture, which was only part of the actual screen, in the middle of a large black screen...
I couldn’t work out how to fix it by any means other than using Steam File Verification.. which worked
So I decided to try searching for a different means, and came across the gog forum. That led me to pcgamingwiki which in turn led me to WSGF (wide screen gaming forum). WSGF suggests that it’s possible to upscale the resolution to 4K (3840x2160), among other variations, by editing an OPT file in save game folder using a hex editor.
it seemed simple enough, and I have done exactly as it says, and yet..
i seem to have gotten back to this scaling trouble. Albeit this time I have it fullscreen. Instead of having a small window showing a part of the menu, I have an extreme close up of the top left area. By using a different resolution via the hex thing I can change how much of the menu screen I can see (for example 1920x1080 means I can see the Gh in ghost and the top of the C on continue. Top left quarter of the menu screen or thereabouts).
So, the question is... What am I missing or not doing? I am guessing it’s something in Windows 10 but I’m probably way off the mark.
Other than this, the game runs fine with no changes to compatibility mode or fiddling with anything.
Any ideas please? Or alternative methods of upping the resolution?
Thanks
