I don't really know what they were thinking either. In Spooky Hollow creating a storm was at least very helpful (knocks down the skull in the mill, destroys Black Crow's shack, widenes the puddle beneath Scarecrow and scares just about everyone and hunts them back in the house - ok debatable if that's helpful but at least it builds up plasm).
In Calamityville horror the ammounts of belief you have to rack up are beyond what anyone could do by accident, even if you tried to scare her, she'd probably run of without calling the witches in 9999 of 10000 instances. However I guess it was meant as a way to enforce the "it's unpractical to scare the mortals here policy" but they never adjusted the ammounts of belief accordingly. If indeed highering her belief a little would already alarm her, it could actually pose some form of obstacle to the player.

I remember theres a theory Windwalker can be unlocked early (not the registry trick) also how about Banzai? hard to see that tree and most wouldnt binde stonewall there lol I remember thinking there was a way to get to the 2nd flight of stairs in haunting 101 and something was hidden in the attic but with a camera glitch I found its blank. Im even betting the interior house of spooky hollow is empty

Yeah, Bonzai is a peculiar case, I never even noticed the Bonzai until I read about Bonzai in that mission... However once you see it and bring Stonewall it's a very good spot to put him in my opinion. I've never read something about freeing Windwalker earlier but it's indeed kind of suspicious that you can bring him to every mission despite freeing him so late (and you only having one shot at it).
