For some reason, my progress is not being saved. It's maddening! Every time i re-enter the game, I even have to reconfigure the controls, it remembers nothing when I shut it down. Ive played all the way up to "Summoners.." because I thought perhaps the game is saved after you beat an entire area. All my High Scares get wiped out, the only option when i start the game up is "New Game". If i hit "Load game" in game, it crashes. Im playing the American edition, if that makes any difference

Maybe you should try to reinstall the game (if you're running XP make sure you're administrator). Be sure to backup the savegames. Also make sure your Ghost Master game directory is not in any way write protected.

I suspected that somehow i had some "read-only" specs on some of the folders(and there were), so i made Empire and all its subfolders non read-only all at once. No change. Ive reinstalled the game, no change. Bums me out! I just beat the sorority @4:38, then i quit the game, go back and no record of me ever having played the game. The only option to start playing is "New Game". All my key configs are wiped out, and I have to even turn off the stupid tutorial! This has to be a bigger problem than just me, Im running a pretty conventional setup of XP and a geforce4, with the latest drivers. It runs perfectly, it just saves no progress, and I cant alt-tab out and copy files to replace in-play or anything either, so i guess im kinda screwed. Guess I'll have to beat the entire game in one sitting or somthing. I got all the way to Deadfellas last night ;D

What about C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Ghost Master\SaveGames? Can you access that folder and are there any files in there?

Well, that explains it i think. For some reason, i cannot access the all users/docs even tho i am the admin. I dont know what the deal is how it happened, but that seems to be the case. I really wish programmers would just keep all the related files in the game's directory, whats so hard about that? Theres a savegames folder there, i guess thats too passe in this progressive day and age. Thanks for the help tho, i guess ill have to wait until after a reformat and i get that folder accessible, it gives me no options other than "get out"

Personally, I like the way that some programmers are keeping the game settings in the user's own area rather than the game area. That way everyone who logs on to the machine has their own settings and saves, which don't interfere with other users. Surely that's a better solution than having a single directory for everyone?
Max Payne and Vice City work in the same way as Ghostmaster - I guess you've not played these with your current setup as you'd get the same problem with your settings.
It's a shame about your settings directory though - I couldn't even guess what went wrong there as it is the default behaviour to be able to write to your own documents and settings folder.
Right-click on your folder and select properties, then security. Who owns the folder and what are the rights to it?

Max Payne and Vice City both work fine, as well as Dungeon Siege, which also stores the saves in a foreign directory as well. Although with them, they are stored in my personal "My Documents", by default, as to where Ghost Master apparently wants to put them in "All Users'" Documents folder.
See, I had been having problems with spyware and the like, so I went thru my pc looking as well for any "shared" or community type of folders that may be a base of operations for ne'er-do-well's of any stripe. It looked like that folder was kinda an invitation, so i set it not to share, etc. Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to use it as well now, LOL. Ive gone round and round thru the properties, and setting, and all that with the same conclusion: NO DiCE.
Call me a simpleton if you will, but I kinda long for the days when I had only one "Documents" folder, and game makers put everything in their respective folders. Whole thing makes me want to go back to '98 sometimes.

Problem solved thru becoming one with my pc in "Safe Mode", that was the only way i could access the "ownership" type options. Thanks again for the help Nemesis and Systems ;D

Well, thanks for all the help! Your suggestions did help and my husband finally got the game to work by giving me access to each and every stupid folder in the entire game even though I was already the administrator. I don't quite understand it, but it worked.
Thanks again! ;D
