I love this game, seriously, otherwise I would throw it in the trash and then burn the trash can it was in and then bury the ashes just in case somehow it could be reassembled.
Ok so I started with my modest 1.6 pentium with 32 meg SIS650 chip. No dice. Stretched graphics, etc. Card not supported, blah blah blah.
So I decided, hell, the local super store has a great deal going on new computers, and I will want one when Half Life 2, Doom 3, The Temple of Elemental Evil and Max Payne 2 come out anyway, so I upgrade. I get a 2.53 with 512 ram and a 64 bit Intel Extreme graphics chipset.
Not great, but probably average to what most users have out there. So the game runs, VERY slowly.
So I figure I'm going to want to have good hardware to play all those A list titles I'm waiting for anyway, so I drop 180 bucks on a G force FX 5600 AGP 256 MB DDR 800 MHZ video card.
Now the game runs at full speed and full resolution and GETS CRITICAL ERRORS THAT CAUSE IT TO CLOSE when I try to play the Unusual suspects or other games.
What did the ship the game with cogjammer in the disk.
The developers need to understand that these games need to run on a wide variety of hardware, otherwise they need to be working exclusively with consoles. From what I've read on the technical support page I'm not the only one having problems.
Does anyone else agree that they should have spent more time making this game ready for the mass market? I can see why they give you a free dvd and a 10 dollar rebate when you buy it, it might placate some of the people who can't return it because of store policies.
(Before you respond with drivers info, I got all of the latest drivers from the manufacturers before I tried to play it. And as for "rolling back drivers" if the game doesn't work with the current drivers, 90 percent of the population will return it or use it as a 50 dollar coaster.)
