I thought I would quickly write this just to give a quick reference and solution to those who may be affected with problems running Ghostmaster. This is by no means complete yet and may seem a bit rough, but hopefully should improve in later incarnations. So feel free to message me with suggestions or to chip in with other information :@)
Quick Troubleshooting Guide for Ghostmaster V 0.1
Games, especially new ones, are sometimes difficult to get working properly - especially if you have a newer machine. If you are having problems with Ghostmaster crashing or freezing, then it could be that the following areas need to be examined and updated:
1. Graphics card Drivers (e.g. Nvidia detonators, Asus)
2. Motherboard chipset drivers (e.g. VIA chipsets)
3. Sound card drivers (e.g. Creative drivers)
4. Windows Updates (OS updates or Hotfixes)
5. DirectX version (currently 9a is the latest version)
6. Mouse Drivers (For Zooming!)
Usually most drivers can be obtained directly from the manufacturer's website, in nvidia's case www.nvidia.com. It may also be worth experimenting with beta driver builds from www.guru3d.com as some can be more effective than the official builds, but you do this on your own risk.
VIA motherboards can sometimes behave oddly with default setup systems and can be improved with VIA 4-in-1 drivers. This could also be the case with other motherboard companies, so it is worth checking their websites to ensure you have the latest motherboard drivers. VIAs main website is: www.viaarena.com/
Sound card drivers can also cause skipping sound problems along with crashes and lockups. It is worth making sure these are also uptodate. For those with generic Creative compatible chipsets, sometimes the main Creative Drivers can provide increased stability and efficiency. Their website is at www.creative.com
Windows updates are worth checking for all versions of windows. For XP home and professional there is a hotfix that specifically solves a problem with crashing video clips. Other fixes may exist for other versions of windows or problems so the updates are worth examining carefully to see if there is a solution to your problem.
DirectX 9a can be downloaded directly from www.microsoft.com/directx and is reccommended as it provides the latest interface for playing games.
If you find that none of the above work, post your question about the problem with your specs on the fourms and someone will try and help
I thought I add making sure you have the latest mouse drivers as well onto the checking list, as they can often activate your wheel or buttons that you use on the mouse. The default microsoft mouse driver is basic, whereas your own manufacturers mouse may have more functions so it is worth checking their website to make sure
