You know what, a place where I can get a hex editing tutorial would also be nice. Considering I know almost nothing about hex editing. The only reason i'm asking for all this is because on the level "cuckoos nest" every time someone with a trojan\ethereal gift hears the darklings obsession they stop moving completely and yes I've trived the patch. So a little help would be appreciated thank you

I just need to know which of the 35 files in my savegames folder I should open with my hex editor when I want to alter fetters, haunter powers or plasm costs. Fetters, powers and Plasm costs can be found in the savegame files (.sav). So a little help would be appreciated thank you Just do a search on Google. There's bound to be a lot of tutorials around. EDIT: First look revealed that there's a LOT of game-specific hex editing tutorials around, but not so many general tutorials. But maybe they could be useful anyway... So people get stuck when carrying objects (not just fire extinguishers)? Hmmm... You could set all your ghosts on them. That usually works with stuck people.

in part I'm saying this just to keep track for myself, but the offset from the beginning of each character is 130 (hex) to the plasm required, based on what Cybill has done...and I just tested that...it works...
I know we've been through the gold plasm thing a million times. I have a US version, so I can't use a trainer. Is it possible to hack the saved games to gain gold plasm? is it a combination of factors to determine? Has anyone worked out a way to do it without the trainers?

I believe Cybill (or someone else) already mentioned the offset for the main Gold Plasm meter somewhere. I'm not sure, though...

a link to it would help...I'm not much good at wading through threads...We don't have a search function for this forum, do we?

As a matter of fact we do have a Search function on this forum (see titlebar). Sadly it can only search for post less than 100 (?) days old. I'll post a link to the Gold Plasm hack as soon (and if) I find it.
EDIT: I found a post of atpeace saying:
"btw, gold plasma is stored @ offset 16 as float"
That's all I could find.

Is that from the beginning of the save game file? 'cause I tried it and it didn't do anything...
what would be a large number to enter for lots of Gold Plasm, anyway? doesn't the Hex only allow 2 digits per field? that's kinda limiting...would only allow a binary value of 255...not enough GP to be helpful...

Actually, values can span more than two positions. I don't exactly know how many positions a float again, but a float can certainly be more than 255. Oh, and the +16 offset is probably counted from a certain point in the file and not from the start. Which position that is... that's what we're going to have to find out, I guess.
