Hi Ghost Masters!
Gee, I found a few spare minutes. So I thought I'd drop you guys a message! Please let me explain why I seemingly dropped offline for quite a while now.
As some of you may know, I'm doing IT stuff in a major academic hospital in Amsterdam. In 2015 a project was launched to replace what we call the ZIS (hospital information system). It nearly ended in big trouble for my department. To keep a long story short: after I was called onto the project, the test success rate went up from 3% to 100% just before launch in October. From then on (over the course of 2016) my job has had an “upgrade” to the point where I’m currently recognized as an “official expert”. Not just within my old section, not just within my department, but within the entire organisation. Which in reality just means that now the entire hospital knows where to find me for their computer problems! On top of that there are at least five more major projects waiting in 2017, including an all-system upgrade to Windows 10. “Busy, busy, busy” has been a regularly-used sentence for me in the past. Shall we see how many more “busies” I can add?
To compensate for this, I’m venturing outside a lot more. I love cycling! I also still love finding and visiting old wind- and watermills. I’m still dreaming about becoming a miller one day. I’ve already been asked! For about six vacant mills in the region…! Well, at least I’ll have a choice. In the meantime I'm currently wasting my precious time building a from-scratch application that can plot GPS data on a map in exactly the way I want. I'm already planning to extend it so I can use it for planning cycle tours as well (i.e. points of interest, directions, etc.)!
But what about Ghost Master? First of all let me say that I’m so glad to see people actually doing what I always planned to do but never found the time for. GM 2. Editors. When I have a few days off in spring, I really hope to catch up a little bit! And secondly I'm also very, very happy to still see some activity in general. Just awesome you guys are still around!
For now at least you know why I’m absent (and likely will be for some time). In case some of you were a bit worried: I’m currently doing absolutely fine and I still do not intend to abandon Ghost Master. Just have a little patience.
Cheers,
Nemesis
