Just a mad idea: what happens if you leave Ghost Master where it is... and reinstall the Sims?

It's the same. Black, thin lines... slow... But the Sims runs just fine.

Right... Can you post some more details on the computer itself (CPU, etc.), please? And check if the video drivers haven't changed?

Ok, first of all sorry for the necro-post. Problem is this has been REALLY bugging me. For the past couple of days I've been trying to get this game to work again. It has in the past but I've recently formatted my PC and well... the usual: black lines, 3 fps. I just downloaded the most recent drivers for my card... that didn't help. Tried all I could found here on the forums or on Steam or GOG's forums. Nothing has worked. This is haunting me more than the haunters!
Here are my specs if you're interested:

Is assume it's just a problem with Ghost Master? Can you see enough to access the options screen and try a few different settings?

Yes, I can even play the game but it's abysmal. I did try setting the resolution lower and the texture quality, but same deal. Although once, with default settings, the intro movies ran smooth, but that's just it, the menu and game still were sluggish.

Which is sort of odd because you said the game worked fine before! Is there a lot of harddisk/CD drive activity during the time the game "runs"?
