Hey guys, if anyone's still actually on this forum...
I bought GM last night from Steam ($4.95 and seemed like a fun time), but after downloading fully and checking the file's integrity, I loaded it and came to a crash. The screen flickered a few times, my resolution changed, but all I got was a black screen at the end of it all. I had to Ctrl-Alt-Del out of it to get back to my desktop.
I have an nVidia 8800GTS with the latest drivers (I have checked) and I'm running Windows Vista x64.

Vista may be the problem here, since it's an older game, but I don't know for sure, sorry.

Googling things like "Ghost master vista fix," "Ghost master vista problem," "Ghost master x64 issues," etc, (without the quotes, of course), turned up nothing. It seems that GM actually runs well enough on Vista to not warrant any fixes, but I think that in our cases, it could be a combination of a 64 bit system with an 8800GTS and Steam's own issues coming in to the mix... I dunno, though, I'm pretty bad when it comes to troubleshooting software like this.

I don't own a computer with Windows Vista, so troubleshooting this is also rather difficult for me! Perhaps you can try temporarily lowering your resolution and color depth (say, 1280x1024 32-bit)? That way you might be able to avoid the resolution "switch" (which apparently is where you get stuck).

Changing the resolution did not do anything other than make a bigger flashing screen. Hahah
Upon starting the game, the busy icon pops up next to my cursor, then it flashes black, then white, then black again for about a second and changes my resolution, then white, then finally black. My hdd starts blinking up, and I've let it run a while, but eventually I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del out of it.
It seems to be a graphics problem, but I've not seen it anywhere else. I really want to play this game!!! So frustrating!

I have been having the same problem since i bought it last week. I tried it with an 8800 gts and now on another computer with 2 7600 gt's both computers do have monitors with native res of 1680x1050 which seems to be the only thing the same other than all comps having nvidia cards and drivers. Maybe a rollback on the driver would solve the problem

Trying with a pretty wide variety of older drivers, nothing works. The best I've done is reduce the amount of times it switches from black to white. It now does it slower, as well, and I can see the box telling me it's failing to run.
