I had this problem too with my older CD drive and a legit copy of this game - seems like the drive didn't like the copy protection. In the end I had to resort to a fixed EXE/No CD of the game. Sadly these are not legal (though harmless in this situation), as such I can not give a link to a download.
Contact customer services though who may be able to send you a fixed EXE via email (I know some companies do so).

Yes, this is a common problem with "unbranded" drives - they save money buy using a poor data reading mechanism.
I had this trouble with my old drive but then bought an ASUS model and everything is perfect.
You may be lucky though - a BIOS update for your drive may fix this (check with your drive manufacturer).

You don't need to state the obvious.

Well if this person goes searching for:
Bios update, CD drive
Then they ain't gonna have that much success, hence why I corrected you. No need to get upset about it.

This message is also connected to the software searching your system and seeing 'bad' software. In this case the bad software is stuff you could copy the CD with. Like Clone CD, Alcohol 120%, or probably any other CD writing software.
Stupid, stupid idea. Like I'm trying to copy the game whilst playing it.
Try uninstalling said software (if this is the case on your system), and see if that works before going out and buying new kit.
