Well my crashes appear to have stopped! All i've changed is to download Media player 9. I can't see why this should have helped 'tho as none of my crashes happened during a cut scene and i had the latest DivX codecs anyway. The plot thickens, maybe my system was possesed by Cogjammer! ;D

Bad video codecs can sometimes snarl up a system. But at least its solved... [glow=black,2,300]for now anyway [/glow] That reminds me, however. XP can sometimes cause the l3codec to behave strangely and cause stuttering / crashing in games. I'll see if I can dig that information up and post in onto the end of the support guide.

I've had alot of crash problems, most notably on the police level and the level with the three witches.
Things carry on as normal and then out of the blue it takes me back to my windows screen.
If the game wasn't REALLY good I would have given up by now.
DAMMIT!

I seem to have come across a rather specific crash problem with my copy... On the "Ghostbreakers" level the game crashes (i.e. just vanishes off screen entirely) as soon as I've managed to scare off two mortals.. This has happened 4 times in a row now!!! Has anyone else experienced this problem?
As others have said, this is the only thing that spoils an otherwise great game.
Bring on the patch!

Are they the same 2 mortals each time? Are you using the same haunters/powers each time? I've not heard anything like this, so it's quite interesting. As opposed to frustrating, which is, I'm sure, how you view it...

Hi ppl , just to say , i have DDR2700 [333] and the game crash randomly.
I tried every thing in the forum but nothing works.
DirectX 8.1 - 9.0 - 9.0a all Nvidia drivers (old and new) all kind of codecs (xvid, Divx , l3codec etc..) all via drivers to my hardware Windows media player 7/8/9 all motherboar bios and drivers also tried to play with no sound card... keep crashing
In 'GhostError.log' it sais : Spooky paranormal program termination: Illegal memory read etc... it gives the same error all the time
mi gues is, the game have problems with Ram 2700 and i will wait to next patch to see if it fixs the problem
Thx to all for the har work trying to make this game playable.

I have PC 2700 DDR 333... very few crash problems, but it DOES happen sometimes.
I haven't found a "fix" yet... but I did notice that if it does happen, I can often avoid it doing it over and over again if I reboot the system. Since it's a memory issue of some sort, even though the game has crashed, I think whatever the problem is partially "sticks" in the system memory somewhere. Because if I DON'T reboot, it seems to be that chances are, I'm aiming for more crashes soon if not almost immediately.
Kinda annoying, but a reboot isn't that huge a deal... and it does seem to help at least some so... figured I'd share.

These crashes are always annoying though.. but I suppose the way the game engine is build causes it to crash.
