I'm really enjoying Ghostmaster except for the random crashes. These take the form of CTD's or total lock-ups requiring a hard boot. Anyone got any ideas as to solving them? System specs: Xp Pro, SP1 Athlon 2700 asus a7v8x mobo, latest bios flash Hercules 9700 pro, cat 3.4 drivers Audigy, latest drivers 1 Gig PC2700 DDR ram Latest VIA 4in 1 drivers 37 gig spare HD space, 1.5 gig page file DX9a Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

No specific ideas, but I am noticing that many people who are having problems and putting their PC specs up here have PC2700 RAM.
Maybe there are some issues with the way the game pages to fast RAM?
Or maybe a driver update for the motherboard is needed...

I've got the latest Mobo drivers, The way the crashes occur tend to suggest to me some sort of soundcard problem, at least in my case. Lowering hardware acceleration has no effect, however.

Hmm, well I haven't got SP1 for XP... Have you tried changing the Audio default device in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties (Control Panel). I've found in the past (admittedly in 98 more so) that changing this (if there are any options that aren't your Modem speaker!) can help with sounds issues. Other than that...

XP only offers me the choice of my Audigy. Guess i'll have to muddle along with the crashes for the time being. I don't mind the CTD's too much but lock-ups get right on my t*ts! shame really, cos it's spoiling an otherwise great, original game.

I've heard of Audigy causing problems before.
Are you using generic Audigy drivers or manufacturers ones? What you could try doing is getting the latest creative drivers and installing those - in some cases they have helped other people with problems.

I'm not sure i understand.
As far as i'm aware Creative don't licence the Audigy chip to anyone else, so all drivers are , by definition, offical and not generic.
I'm using the latest release from creative, 'tho there is a Beta set doing the rounds.

OK, thanks DemoNik - Sometimes if you are using an OEM version of certain PCs you might get an older version of software or it could be some manufacturers own drivers - thats what I really meant to ask It sounds like it could be a translation error between the game and the soundcard you are using.. we shall have to see if the upcoming patch will fix it

I'm crashing as well! I have a Sony Vaio Laptop, and I can do Haunting 101 no problem at all, but as soon as I play the game "for real" it crashes whenever I go to an upstairs floor or the basment. It's really frustrating as I only bought it yesterday and I have more than enough specs, but I have to keep turning the laptop off manually and then try again.
