The crashes every 10 minutes or so and my comp well above the recommended spec. running : windows xp, with a ASUS 4ti440, 2 gig proc, and 1 gig o ram.
yet the game causes a complete reset of my computer due to a so called PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREAS due to the file anvioctl, sys I have all latest drivers and media player 9 etc.
So my main question is why release a game that obviously has incompatability issues and expect people to pay money for it ??

Hmmm..sorry to hear about the problems you're having. :-/I have only had the game crash on me twice. Once just after installing and playing the first mission, and again a couple of days ago while completing the Blair Wisp Project. But I think I confused the game there a bit because i decided to switch from viewing a mortal to viewing a ghost just as the end movie was playing as I completed the level. (Had to restart again!) :'(It jumped erratically from the the ghost view to the Darkling movie rapidly then froze and crashed out. But other than that I have had no problems!! I think it's a little unfair to complain about publishing a game "that obviously has compatibilty issues". Its the same old problem with PC games, and that is one of the almost infinate variety of system/hardware configurations out there. It must be really difficult trying to predct EVERY possible problem that might occur and programme a solution for it BEFORE the game comes out. (Probably like trying to predict the lottery numbers!) I know its frustrating when you want to enjoy the game, it's happened to me a couple of times with other games So here's hoping they bring a patch out soon for you people having problems.

I agree with Marko here, it is impossible to bring out a PC game that will work on every configuration.
It might work better on an OS that hasn't been 'fiddled' with much, and also sometimes the latest video drivers aren't the best ones to have. Maybe go back a few versions and try those.
Plus, so we have any views on whether DirectX 9 is worth having? Has it improved the performance of the game for anyone, or more importantly, allowed anyone to play the game who couldn't without DX9??

The problem seems to be down to using ASUS compiled drivers rather than the Nvidia ones. So go to Nvidia.com and download the latest revision directly from them.

Indeed, I also have an ASUS GF4 and it does the exact same thing (resetting my pc), so the ref drivers from NVidia themselves might work...

As a general rule, the drivers from Nvidia almost ALWAYS work better than whatever drivers the actual maker of the card puts out. Been that way since the first geforce cards, and doubt it's gonna change soon.
Granted, there are exceptions, but it's a good first thing to try if you're having problems and using anything with an Nvidia graphics chip.
