I downloaded it as you said, though it made the white screen stay a moment longer. Along with Windows recognizing the program had failed as well. Though it prompted no manner of solution to it.
Though, I did notice one thing when I was looking through the folder some for that log file to see if it had a more accurate reading as to the problem. Then I noticed two things, there are two different application .exe things. One of which simply reads 'Ghost' while the other reads, AllGhostsUK. So I clicked on the AllGhostsUK one and the game started up instantly and perfectly fine. My guess being, that for whatever reason, Steam started trying to start the game with the Ghost one. Which, when I exited out of the game and tried that, failed. So looks like I'm to starting the game manually in a different way then, not a bad thing really. Still bit confusing as to why Steam would start doing that rather differently. But at least we got the problem figured out now.
Thanks for the time you've given to help with my problem as well. ^..^
Also for a note, I messed around with my steam some, haven't really found a way to tell it as to which one to use for starting the game with. Even deleted the one that made it crashed to see if it would start with the other one and steam still didn't use the proper one.

Good to hear it works! Even though the AllGhostsUK isn't the official executable. It belongs to the All Ghosts Mod (meant to unlock all ghosts & levels). Well, doesn't matter. If it works, it works! Happy hauntings!
