Most of the stuff I have read on the forum talks about a cooperative gameplay when talking about Multiplayer. I think a vs mode would work better. Here is my idea.
Each of the 2 Ghost Masters are give a list of tasks to do.
-Free (insert Name) ghost
-Scare (insert Name) mortal out of hunting
-Free mortals from jail sell
-brake all electronic equipment in hunting
-Get (insert Name) mortal to win at (insert game)
-Make (insert name) mortal faint
-get 50 screams
-etc
The list of tasks for the 2 Ghost Masters are different. This way you are not only trying to complete your tasks but also trying to prevent the other Ghost Master from doing theirs. If the other Ghost Masters need to make someone faint then you could try and scare them out of the hunting before he/she can make them faint. However lets say that person happens to have a fear of insects and you do not know that and you use Clatterclaws to try to scare the mortal, you just gave the other Ghost Master points. That why there are 2 different list. If you are both trying to do the same things then there can be confusion on who show get the points. With two different lists as long as the task is done that person gets the points it doesn't matter who actually dose it. You could also bind one of you ghost to a fetter that your appoint needs/could use. Example, in Hunting 101 you need to free Weatherwitch by binding a ghost to the cd player and using Wild and Crazy, spark storm or something like that. It is not impossible to free Weatherwitch but you have limited their options.
Each task is given a point value. Easy one being worth fewer, harder one being worth more. So if you can't do all of your tacks you don't automatically lose. There is a time limit and who ever has the most points at the end wins. Lets say your appoint needs to free the mortals from jail on their list, but they also have 2 mortal in that jail that they need to scare out of the hunting. It might be a good idea to get the jails open. Yes you will be giving them points but if you don't it will make it very easy to scare those 2 mortals and your appoint is probably going to do it anyways. This way at lease you make it harder for the other Ghost Master to scare the mortals and free the mortals from jail is an easy thing to do so probably is not worth that many points.
Lastly, a little extra thing that is not in the main game, Ghost Master special powers.
You can do things like
-banish 1 ghost for 10, 20, 30 seconds. This has oveus advantages. You can get a ghost out of a fetter you want to use or a fetter you want to take away from your appoint. Or just make it so they don't have one of their best ghost for a period of time.
-protect you ghosts for 30, 60 seconds. This would work much like it dose in Facepacks & Broomsticks. Ghostbreakers or a Ghost Master special power would be unable to banish your ghost for a shore period of time.
-Keeps all of the other Ghost Master ghost on whatever fetter that ghost is on for 30 seconds. The other Ghost Master can bind ghost that are not out in the hunting but any ghost that is out can not be benched or binded to a new fetter. This will not only make the ghost easier pray to Ghostbreakers but ythe other Ghost Master maybe trying to scare a mortal and keeps on binding their ghost to were the mortal is running to next this will prevent them from doing that.
You would gain point(point other than the task points) as the hunting going on. You can trade in these point to use one of the Ghost Master special powers. I would think the easiest way, and maybe the best way, would be to use the points you usually get in the game of screams, scares, etc (the things that get added up at the end of a level for you high score). Since you are not going to get gold plasm and the system is already in place it seems like a logical choose. Instead of it adding up at the end of the game you just have counter that keeps track. The one thing you would have to change is either (a) make it so freeing a ghost in not worth any point or (b) make in worth a lot less. Freeing a ghost is worth A LOT more than anything else so someone who freed 2 ghost versus someone who freed 1 would have a BIG advantage.
OK now that I have the rule down this is that way I see it working.
At the start the first thing you see it the list of task you need to complete and the list the other Ghost Master need to complete. Then you are given a look at the hunting in a king of freeze in time for the way the level will start. This way you see what kind fetter there are, were mortals are(or at lease were they start out), and you can even talk to ghost if you want. After that it is on to selecting you ghost. Well you are selecting you ghost you can see what ghost the other Ghost Master is selecting as well. And now things get started. Everything works like it dose usually except now there is another ghost master doing things too. At far as the plasm go I would think you would be the normal way and both Ghost Master get the same amount. If you would start going by individual scares per person I would think things would get messy quickly. After someone is scared off how do you split that between the 2 people.
So that is my online idea
