Could be. Spyware is the name for "statistical" software (mostly cookies and browser extensions) which keep track of the user's surfing actions. It's used for "personalized" advertising (i.e. annoy people with things they like ). Malware is a little more irritating, with the so-called " Dialers" (little programs which tweak your dialup Internet connection) being the most widespread kind. Available in lots of interesting flavours, colors and destruction levels, you could say it's a name for anything that installs itself on your computer without asking. Very, very annoying and irritating...

If you look for rectangular shaped things with links on (they'll make your cursor a hand) with things moving on them, or CLICK HERE FOR 1000 POUNDS or something like that! Usually, don't click on banners! There's one of ghostmaster at the bottom of a forum, and usuallu one at the top!
