James, you should be able to add more emoticons. There's a site with many different ProBoard bits and pieces on. To add more smilies, you would have to copy some to a website (so you can link to them), and then add a bit of code in the admin section (header/footer) here. Try looking at SolidSnakeDesigns Smilies Generator for instructions...

Well as far as I'm aware, you can only have 16 emoticons. If I wanted to add a new one, I'd have to replace one of the others. So say I decided to replace this one as it doesn't get used all that much, if I changed it for example to a picture of Boo, all the posts which had used the emoticon in the past would now have a Boo pic in them. So you'd get posts from a long time ago saying: Lots of love, Bob (Picture of Boo)

I see - I didn't realise there was a limit, though it makes sense.

I don't see why it should. Lots of Topics hop from topic to topic. No problem there.

In that case; James, there is a way to add more smilies to the board, and not affect the 'normal' ones. You can add code that puts a drop down box to the left of the text box on the Reply page. You have to get the images yourself, and host them somewhere. Then, go to this ProBoard Support Forum page for the code to add. Or, slightly easier, there are a few 'generators', where you enter the URLs of all your Smilies, and press a button and it gives you the code and tells you where to put it. Two Smilies generators: Custom Smilie WizardSmilie Drop Down Menu GeneratorI tried entering the code here (by 'here' I mean in this post, not on your board), but it's really hard to do easily (it made me even more appreciative of the hard work the Mods do at the ProBoard Support forum!).

There are also lots of Smiley icon sites on the Internet. Just do a search on Google.

We could, but look at this way, we keep bumping your 'Can I' thread, so it is keeping it 'alive'. All good. Everyone wins.
